"On n'est pas dans le futurisme, mais dans un drame bourgeois ou un thriller atmosphérique"
This work offers a summary of the book "SMARTS: Are We Hardwired for Success?" by CHUCK MARTIN PEG DAWSON RICHARD GUARE.
There are 12 executive skills - the skills that help you get stuff done. Most people, by the time they reach adulthood, are strong in 2 or 3 areas and weak in others. Effective organisations recognise this, creating teams that ensure all the 12 skills are accounted for.
The authors of Smarts provide readers with several strands of guidance. First, they explain how to assess your own strength and weaknesses, in order to better plan career goals, move in directions previously unthought-of and be more productive in your current role. Second, they encourage people to improve strengths, not weaknesses, and seek circumstances where your strengths will shine. Third, the authors show how to use knowledge of the 12 executive skills to manage others: if you can´t change they skillset, change their environment. Make particular effort to match tasks to people with the appropriate profile; the job will be done better and more efficiently, and the employee will be happier. Lastly, make sure what´s valued in the market is reflected in the abilities of the company.
Martin, Dawson and Guare have written a book that´s analytical, but centres around a commonsense argument that any business can implement to great positive effect.
