This publication presents results of a research, funded by a European Union contract, that was carried out by seven laboratories from six European countries. This work placed special emphasis on the comparison between the main biological and chemical methods known, to determine which of them were best adapted to the forages, studies. In a second phase, the work is aimed at improving these methods to make them more efficient, and at the same time, to maximize their reproducibility and to minimize their cost.
